NORWAY - A Norwegian professor said, airline ticket prices should be imposed according to the weight of passengers. According to him, the weight of passengers affect aircraft fuel use.
According to Dr Bharat P Bhatta from the Song of Jordane University College, Norway, passengers with overweight should pay the more expensive tickets. Instead, passengers who pay thinner cheaper tickets.
The statement was written in his journal that published this month. Dr. Bhatta claimed that weight and space where one seat should be considered airfares.
"Weight loss is important in the aviation industry, the airline should include consideration when determining the price of their tickets," said Dr. Bhatta in his journal, as quoted from Dailymail, Tuesday (26/03/2013).
This was echoed by the journal editor, Dr Ian Yeoman. "For airlines, any excess weight, the more fuel, thus making greater CO2 emissions, the cost was more and more," he said.
Dr Bhatta said that the rates can be adjusted to each kilogram of body weight of passengers. For example, passengers weighing 60 kilograms would pay half the ticket that weighs less than 120 kilograms. Could this be true in the aviation industry of the future?
